Rehab is Training in the Presence of Injury
“Working with Killian is a huge part of why I have been able to return to running following an ankle injury last fall. I was introduced to her practice through a local running social event and reached out to begin working with her when my own attempts at self-rehab fell short. I appreciated that she didn't tell me to stop running to get better. She works with her clients to help them keep doing what they enjoy and get stronger to recover from injury. Scheduling was always flexible and sessions were tailored to my recovery needs. Next time I am in need of physical therapy, I will certainly be looking to work with Killian again!”

Physical Therapy
I often hear of runners’ poor past experiences with physical therapy. This breaks my heart because working with the right PT can benefit, not only on your running career, but your future health as well.
Distance running places high stress on the body for a long period of time. This is not a bad thing, it’s just a fact. In order to stay healthy, we must adequately prepare the body for the loads placed on it with every step we take. When we’re underprepared, that’s when injury can occur.
My goals as your physical therapist are to:
Keep you running
Address your weaknesses
Prepare you to return to running, training, and performance.
Care for you as a runner and human-being.
Provide you resources to achieve your running goals.
I am proud to be a strength-based physical therapist. Most running injuries occur due to a lack of tolerance to a recent training change. One of the best ways to improve a runner’s capability to tolerate the demands of running is to increase strength of the commonly stressed structures.

“I went to see Dr. Carlton after experiencing severe shin pain while running for several weeks. She took the time to analyze my symptoms, diagnose my issue, and prescribe a treatment plan to help get me back running pain free. The exercises I was given helped resolve all my pain and add strength over a 4-6 week period. Visiting Killian not only helped relieve my pain but ultimately made me a more informed and better runner going forward.”
